ABOUT THE THEME

The rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming governance and legislative activities worldwide, offering opportunities to enhance efficiency, transparency, and responsiveness within Parliamentary processes. In the SADC region, the integration of AI in legislative functions is crucial for modernizing Parliaments, strengthening democratic governance, and ensuring more informed decision-making.

The 57^th Plenary Assembly provides a strategic platform for Parliamentarians to engage in high-level discussions, share best practices, and formulate policies that will shape the future of AI-driven governance in the SADC region.

OBJECTIVES

• To explore AI-driven innovations that enhance Parliamentary efficiency, transparency, and inclusivity while addressing challenges such as cybersecurity and digital inequality.
• To integrate AI and innovative tools into Parliamentary decision-making and Legislative processes while ensuring ethical compliance.
• To strengthen Parliamentary oversight through data-driven governance models, mitigating risks of AI biases and misinformation.
• To promote greater public participation through digital tools and AI-enabled consultation mechanisms, addressing the challenge of digital literacy.
